The Design

Arrma Typhon Body

The first thing you’ll ever notice on the Arrma Typhon is how small its body looks. Yes, the body doesn’t cover the front part of the car.

Mainly, it’s occupying the middle part of the whole chassis.

Also, if you’re familiar with or have seen our full review of the Arrma Limitless, you’ll notice that the Arrma Typhon body looks similar to that on the Limitless, right?

They look similar when it comes to the stickers, the lines as well as the rear part exactly in those small bumpers.

Still, the Arrma Typhon body looks sporty, draws a lot of attention, and comes with a great design and graphics which makes it special.

Unlike the Limitless which comes with 3 body clips, the Typhon comes with 4. Two in the front and two others in the back.

Regarding the spoiler, we can consider it as a part of the body even though it’s attached to the chassis.

The spoiler is something that you can’t ignore!

Well, was can say that it’s a double spoiler with two wings. It is attached to the rear shock tower and divided into 4 parts. We might consider these parts as a diffuser included there, maybe!

Concerning the colors, this RC car comes in red, Green, and black colors.

Other than that, the body looks amazing and perfectly built.

Arrma Typhon Chassis

As you know, the Arrma Typhon is a small RC car, and so is the chassis.

For this reason, if you’re used to driving big RC cars like the Granite or the Big Rock, you might get a little shocked. Why?

Because the small size of this chassis makes the internal components a little compressed, there is no space between each one.

As a beginner, you might get confused about where to start, but, after a few seconds, you’ll get used to it quickly.

Also, we mentioned before that the body of the Arrma Typhon looks like the Arrma Limitless body. Well, the chassis looks like the one of the Notorious.

Arrma Typhon Best Review. Everything You Need To Know!

In the front of the chassis, there is a small bumper directly followed by the shocks and the shock tower.

This structure is different than the other Arrma RC cars which is good for the identity of the Arrma Typhon.

But, at the same time, this may not be a good idea for the safety of the car, especially for the shocks and the suspension system including the suspension arms and the wheel driveshafts.

One direct crash may shatter everything! Or at least, there will be some damage.

The other damage that you may get from having the shocks without protection is the amount of dirt that can stop them from doing their job. Also, it’s hard to clean them!

The Arrma Typhon comes with the usual parts that every Arrma RC car comes with. We will talk more about the internal parts in the performance section.

Other than that, the front and the rear shocks are well built and thanks to them, this RC beast will be able to handle high jumps and hard landings both off and on-road.

Overall, the Arrma Typhon chassis building is really simple and can be easily understood to upgrade and change its parts. It is also solid for an RC car of such a size. It’s so reliable and strong.

Arrma Typhon Performance

Arrma Typhon Specs

Despite being a small RC car, the Arrma Typhon has a big potential. But before talking about the top speed and the performance. You should know that there are three versions.

The slowest one comes with a MEGA 12T brushed 550 motors, and a MEGA waterproof ESC and it’s called the Arrma Typhon Mega. This RC version can reach up to 30mph which is 48 Km/h.

The second one comes with a Spektrum™ Firma™ 3200Kv brushless motor and a BLX100 2S/3S waterproof ESC compatible with 2s and 3s Lipo batteries. It’s called the Arrma Typhon 3s and can reach up to 50mph which is 80km/h.

And the faster one is the Arrma Typhon 6s BLX which comes with a Spektrum™ Firma™ 4074 2050KV brushless motor as well as a Spektrum™ Firma™ 150A Smart Brushless ESC. With a 6s battery added, this beast can go up to 70mph (112 km/h).

Here they are in more detail:

The three versions of the Arrma Typhon look almost the same. But, if you take a closer view, you’ll find that there are some big differences in the performance and some small differences in the chassis.

The chassis of the Mega and the 3s version looks almost the same.

On the other hand, there are some noticeable changes in the 6s version like the spoiler that is completely different in addition to some additional parts at the level of the rear bumper to increase the protection as well as the tires.

When it comes to the bodies, the three versions have the same shape but not the same colors and graphics. The Arrma Typhon Mega comes in Green color, the 3s comes with Red color while the 6s comes with Red and Black colors.

As you know, the best one here is the 6s version while the slowest is the Mega version that comes with a brushed motor.

And don’t forget that you get what you pay for!

Arrma Typhon In Action

Arrma Typhon Best Review. Everything You Need To Know!

Despite being a small RC car, the Arrma Typhon feels heavy in comparison to the other RC cars. And that’s because of all the electronics gathering in that chassis.

However, the best part of this is the big ability of this RC car to ump so high. You can enjoy jumping all the time especially if you’re off-road. But, on one condition!

The condition is that there should be no rocks or hard things on the ground. Otherwise, you would destroy the front parts of your Arrma Typhon.

Yes, that’s right, as mentioned before, the body doesn’t protect the front parts of the chassis. So they might get damaged while hitting the ground if not the jump is done properly. That includes the cleaning as well especially if it went through the shocks!

Of course, breaking one of these shocks will be hard since they have small protectors on top and bottom that also protect them from dirt and crashes.

In the end, you don’t have to worry, this might not happen at all if you know where to drive your RC car and care about it.

Having dirt is a part of any RC car, so whether you take the Arrma Typhon or even the Kraton, you’ll have to clean and take care of them to last longer. (Except if you enjoy hitting the sh*t out of them!)

Arrma Typhon Systems

There is a difference between the three versions when it comes to the systems, especially between the 6s and the other version since it is the version with the most differences.

The Mega and the 3s versions both come with the same remote control which is the Spektrum™ 3-channel SLT3™ 2.4GHz Radio And SLR300 Waterproof Receiver.

These remote control and receiver don’t come with any features like the AVC and the Spektrum App. However, they’re good for beginners since they can enable the throttle mode between 50% and 75% to limit acceleration.

It’s basic, but it does come with a wall charger. Also, you should buy some batteries because it comes with none.

On the other hand, the 6s version comes with the Spektrum™ SLT3™ transmitter and the SLR315 receiver comes with the Spektrum Dashboard App that allows you to see more info about your Arrma Typhon including the temperature, the actual speed, and the top speed in addition to some other features on the app.

This app feature is one of the best qualities that you should try. It’s incredibly fun.

Arrma Typhon Upgrades

One of the great things about this RC Truggy is its parts and upgrades. As a beginner RC car, this is a great chance for them to find the parts easily and quickly, they’re widely available and affordable to buy as well.

However, you should be careful sometimes, because, as mentioned before, there are some differences between the three versions including some in the chassis.

For example, buying some Arrma Typhon 3s upgrades may be compatible with the Mage version, but not the 6s version!

This is why, before buying any parts, you should make sure that they’re compatible with the version that you have. Some parts may fit perfectly in all versions, some might be longer, and others might be shorter.

Sometimes, you may force a part to fit your Arrma Typhon version, but this is not recommended! You might break that part with others if you run into something while playing.

When it comes to taking off a part, it’s easy and simple. Some parts require opening some screws while others require nothing but taking it off with your hands.

So, it’s pretty easy!

Annoying Things About the Arrma Typhon

When I saw this RC car for the first time, I didn’t think that it will be that powerful and reliable, especially after seeing the front part where the shocks have no protection.

But it looked like I was wrong, and this RC car can make high jumps and land so hard, but nothing will happen to those shocks and parts.

There isn’t anything that is annoying me about this RC car. Sometimes, as a beginner, you may get confused with the compatibility of the new parts that you buy.

But, this is not a big problem since you can see the reviews and the Q&A before buying. You’ll get used to it.

When it comes to the Arrma Typhon 6s, it’s a little bit disappointing that the Active Vehicle Control (AVC) isn’t available, it would be better if it were there.

Great Things About the Arrma Typhon

Yes, there are a lot of great and attractive things about this RC car.

The first one of them is the shape of the RC itself. It’s special and different from the rest of the Arrma RC cars.

It’s affordable and beginner friendly which is great.

Also, those small bumpers in front of the shocks do a pretty good job of protecting them from mud and dust, they can protect them even from bad crashes.

This RC car can’t be driven only by adults and beginners, it is also child-friendly and can be the best gift for your son or daughter!
