The Official Record: 234.71 mph

Guinness World Records lists the fastest battery-powered remote-controlled model car at 377.73 km/h (234.71 mph). Stephen Wallis (UK) set it at Llanbedr, Gwynedd, on 19 September 2025, in a build he nicknamed “The Beast”. Guinness says he beat the previous record by more than 25 km/h (Guinness World Records, checked Oct 20, 2026).

Cambrian News (July 13, 2026) quotes Wallis: “I haven’t verified it with Guinness World Records yet as I still want to go even faster.” As of Oct 20, 2026, the Guinness page still shows 234.71 mph. Until Guinness updates it, 234.71 mph is the official record and 256.47 mph is the fastest reported run.

For Mach Reaper, New Atlas says Wallis moved to an 18S battery setup, matched all four motors, and shaved the tires from 99 mm to 94 mm in diameter for better traction (New Atlas).

Why 300 mph Is Still Out of Reach

Going from 256 mph to 300 mph is about 17% more speed. Air drag rises with the square of speed, so the power needed to push through it rises roughly with the cube. That means about 60% more power for the same car, while the tires, motors and batteries are already at their limits. Wallis is still pushing, but nobody has reported a run near 300 mph.

It is a roller, so you add a transmitter and receiver, a high-torque steering servo, an ESC (8S recommended), a 50-series motor (max 4.33 in long by 1.97 in diameter), two 4S LiPos, a charger and a Mod 1 pinion. Horizon says a LIMITLESS ran a quarter mile in 8.6 seconds and beat a Red Bull Racing RB7 Formula One car, “reaching speeds of up to 150 MPH” (Horizon Hobby). How fast yours goes depends on the electronics you install.
