ARRMA has refreshed the 1/7 MOJAVE 6S for 2026, and this time you can buy it two ways. The standard MOJAVE 6S 4X4 RTR (part number ARA7604V3, often called the Mojave 6S V3) and the new MOJAVE 6S EXB 4X4 RTR (ARA7704V3) share the same chassis size, power system and gearing. The EXB adds Extreme Bash parts from the factory and costs more. This guide compares the two using Horizon Hobby’s published specs, prices and stock status, so you can decide which one fits your desert truck budget.

Quick answer: Both trucks use the same Spektrum Firma 150A ESC, Firma 4074 2050Kv motor, 11.94:1 final drive and 60+ MPH manufacturer rating on 6S. The standard Mojave 6S V3 is $719.99 and was in stock at Horizon on Oct 26, 2026. The Mojave 6S EXB is $849.99, adds machined aluminum front and rear gearboxes, red anodized 7075 aluminum shock towers front and rear, and an upgraded EXB shock package with machined pistons, precision shaft guides and X-ring seals. It was on backorder until November 2026. Both trucks have oil-filled adjustable shocks with EXB emulsion shock caps. Pick the V3 if you want to drive now and spend the $130 difference on batteries. Pick the EXB if you jump hard and want those parts installed from day one.

What the Two Trucks Share

Horizon calls this the MOJAVE 6S’s “first major update since 2020”, and most of that update is common to both versions. According to the Horizon MOJAVE 6S page and the two product pages, both trucks get:

  • The same power system. A Spektrum Firma 150A Smart V2 waterproof ESC rated for 4S or 6S, a Firma 4074 2050Kv brushless motor, an S665 waterproof digital steering servo, an SR315 receiver and an SLT3 transmitter. Horizon says both get updated ESC firmware for smoother throttle response.
  • The same gearing. An 18T Mod-1 pinion, a 50T spur, a 4.3:1 internal ratio and an 11.94:1 final drive ratio, with a listed roll-out of 36.57 mm.
  • The same chassis and size. A 7075 T6 XLWB aluminum chassis, a 420 mm wheelbase and an overall size of 715 x 355 x 270 mm. Both run gear differentials, all-steel driveshafts, all-metal diff outdrives and gearbox internals, and a split center brace.
  • The same body system and underbody shield. An integrated underbody shield and a hidden clipless body mount with a quick-release button on each side. Both product pages list reinforced side guards, desert-ready front and rear bumpers with a front rubber bumper skirt, roof skids for rollover protection and a rear chassis skid plate.
  • Oil-filled adjustable shocks with EXB emulsion shock caps. The standard RTR’s page lists “EXB emulsion shock caps” too, so the caps are not an EXB-only part.
  • The same tires and hexes. dBoots Fortress tires on 17 mm wheel hexes.
  • The same battery requirements. IC5 hardcase packs in one of four layouts (covered below), with a maximum battery size of 158 x 48 x 70 mm.

That means the two trucks should feel the same in a straight line. Horizon rates both at 60+ MPH on 6S. Treat that as the manufacturer’s rating, not a guaranteed number, since surface, battery and conditions all change real-world speed.

What the EXB Adds From the Factory

EXB stands for Extreme Bash. Horizon says the EXB is “reinforced with premium components designed to handle repeated punishment across unforgiving terrain.” On the Mojave 6S EXB product page, the differences are:

  • Machined aluminum gearboxes, front and rear, which Horizon says add drivetrain strength and precision.
  • EXB red anodized 7075 aluminum front and rear shock towers. The standard RTR’s page lists a black anodized aluminum shock tower instead.
  • An upgraded EXB shock package with machined pistons, precision shaft guides, X-ring seals and EXB shock internals. The emulsion caps are shared with the V3.
  • An EXB anodized 7075 T6 XLWB chassis with anodized aluminum bulkheads and reinforced braces.
  • Its own EXB body design, which Horizon describes as low and wide, in black.

One detail matters if you followed the old Mojave lineup. Horizon says this is the first-ever MOJAVE 6S EXB sold Ready-to-Run, and that the previous 6S EXB was available only as a roller. So for the first time you get the EXB parts and a full Spektrum electronics package in one box.

These are factory spec differences, not an upgrade plan. If you already own a Mojave and want to know which aftermarket parts are worth buying, see our top Mojave upgrades list instead.

Price: Is the EXB Worth the Extra $130?

At Horizon’s list prices on Oct 26, 2026, the EXB costs $130 more ($849.99 against $719.99). Neither truck includes a battery or charger, so the real cost is higher for both.

As an example, the EXB product page suggests the Spektrum 6S 5000mAh 50C Smart G2 IC5 battery (SPMX56S50) at $149.99 and the Spektrum S2200 G2 AC charger (SPMXC2010) at $319.99. Adding those two items brings the V3 to $1,189.97 and the EXB to $1,319.97 before tax and shipping. You can spend less with a different charger or a 4S setup, which both trucks support.

What does the $130 buy? Machined aluminum gearboxes in place of the V3’s molded gearcase, red 7075 shock towers front and rear, machined shock pistons, shaft guides and X-ring seals, and anodized chassis parts, all installed and matched from the factory. Buying and fitting similar parts later costs time as well as money. Horizon does not publish a weight difference between the two: both pages list 14.31 lb (6.49 kg) with electronics.

Availability and Colors

On Oct 26, 2026, Horizon listed the standard Mojave 6S 4X4 RTR as in stock. Horizon describes it as “available in Blue, Beige, and a limited-edition Yellow”, and says the Yellow version (ARA7604V3T3) is a limited edition sold only on HorizonHobby.com.

The Mojave 6S EXB RTR comes in black only, and its product page showed “Backorder | November 2026” on the same day. If you need a truck for a trip or a holiday gift, that date matters. Check the page again before you order, since backorder dates can move.

Batteries: Same Requirements for Both

Both trucks are listed as needing a battery, a LiPo charger and a LiPo safe battery bag. Horizon lists four battery layouts that work in either truck:

  • Two 2S hardcase LiPo batteries
  • Two 3S hardcase LiPo batteries
  • One 4S hardcase LiPo battery
  • One 6S hardcase LiPo battery

The standard RTR’s page specifies IC5 connectors for all of these, and both pages list IC5 as the connector type. Maximum battery size is 158 x 48 x 70 mm (6.22 x 1.89 x 2.76 in). Horizon says the trucks are built for 4S or 6S power, and the 60+ MPH rating is for 6S.

Want to compare prices on the trucks themselves? Check current Mojave 6S listings on Amazon. Make sure the listing says ARA7604V3 or ARA7704V3, so you get the 2026 version and not an older model. For pack and charger choices in more depth, see our Mojave 6S battery compatibility guide.

Setup Notes From the Spec Sheet

Horizon publishes factory oil weights on the standard RTR’s page: 80k in the front and rear diffs, 100k in the center diff and 550cSt in the shocks. The EXB page does not list oil weights, so check the EXB manual before you rebuild its shocks or diffs instead of assuming they match the V3.

Both trucks ship with the same 18T pinion and 50T spur, and both product pages list a pinion gear in the box. Read the gearing section of your manual before changing gears, because the right pinion depends on the battery you run. For shock and handling adjustments after you know your truck, our Mojave 6S suspension setup guide covers shocks, toe-in and tuning.

Which One Should You Buy?

  • Buy the Mojave 6S V3 if you want to drive this month, you want a color choice, or you would rather put the $130 toward a second battery or a better charger. It has the same power system, gearing and speed rating as the EXB.
  • Buy the Mojave 6S EXB if you plan big jumps and rough landings, you want the aluminum gearboxes, red 7075 shock towers and EXB shock internals installed from the factory, and you can wait for the November 2026 backorder.
  • Look at a smaller truck if 14.31 lb and a 6S budget feel like too much. Our Mojave 4X4 4S BLX review covers the smaller 4S desert truck.
