The Notorious and the Outcast are ARRMA’s two 1/8 scale 6S stunt trucks: the same 540mm length, the same Firma 4074 2050Kv motor, wheelie bars, and dBoots Backflip tires. The real difference in 2026 is availability. As of Oct 20, 2026, Horizon Hobby lists both 1/8 Outcast 6S models (the 6S BLX and the 6S EXB AVC) as discontinued, while the Notorious 6S V6 is in stock. The Outcast name lives on only as the much bigger 1/5 Outcast 8S EXB.

This comparison uses Horizon Hobby product pages for every spec (linked in Sources). We have not run our own speed or durability tests. Prices change often, so each product has a “Check current price” link instead of a number.

Quick answer: If you are buying new, buy the Notorious 6S V6. It is the only one of the two still sold at Horizon, and it has a 7075 T6 EXB chassis plate, a Firma 150A Smart V2 ESC, an S665 servo and a 65+ mph rating. The discontinued Outcast 6S EXB is worth a look used if you want AVC stability control, which the Notorious radio does not list. If you specifically want an Outcast new, the only one left is the 1/5 Outcast 8S EXB, a far larger truck.

What Actually Differs Between the Notorious and Outcast

Body: the Notorious wears ARRMA’s retro 1950s pickup body; the V6 adds a WWII fighter plane livery and a clipless, quick-release body mount. The Outcast uses its own pickup body (matte-and-gloss finish on the EXB). Both have a wheelie bar and a rear wing.
Radio and AVC: this was the biggest functional difference. The Outcast 6S EXB shipped with a DX3 radio and SR6110AT AVC receiver; Horizon calls it the first ARRMA EXB RTR with AVC. Neither Notorious page lists AVC; both ship with the SLT3 and SR315.
Chassis: the Notorious V5 and Outcast 6S BLX used a 3mm 6061-T6 plate. The Outcast EXB and the Notorious V6 both moved to 7075 T6 EXB plates.
Weight: the V6 is the heaviest at 5.88kg on Horizon’s spec tab, about 0.6kg more than the Outcast EXB.
Wheels and tires: all four list dBoots Backflip tires on 17mm hex wheels, and the three older trucks share the same 461mm width.

Notorious 6S V6 Upgrades Over the V5

Horizon lists these changes for the V6 (Horizon Hobby):

Which Is Faster, the Notorious or the Outcast?

On Horizon’s ratings, the Notorious 6S V6 is rated 65+ mph and the Outcast 6S EXB 60+ mph. The Notorious V5 and the Outcast 6S BLX are both rated 60+ mph.

Treat these as manufacturer ratings, not measured speeds. The V6’s SLT3 transmitter has a throttle limiter you can set to 50% or 75%, and Horizon says the truck is fine on 4S while you learn.

Batteries and Charging

Notorious 6S V6: two 2S, two 3S, one 4S or one 6S hardcase LiPo with EC5 or IC5 connectors. Horizon lists 5000mAh 50C as the minimum, a 158 x 48 x 70mm max battery size, and a compatible LiPo charger as needed (Horizon Hobby).
Outcast 6S EXB: Horizon lists two 2S or two 3S LiPos with EC5 or IC5 connectors and a compatible charger (Horizon Hobby).
Outcast 6S BLX: two 2S or 3S 35C+ 5000mAh packs with a harness, or one 4S or 6S pack, IC5/EC5, plus a balancing charger and a LiPo charging bag (Horizon Hobby).
None of these trucks includes a battery or charger.

Can You Still Buy an ARRMA Outcast?

Not as a new 1/8 6S truck from Horizon. As of Oct 20, 2026, the Outcast 6S BLX (ARA106042) and Outcast 6S EXB AVC (ARA8710) pages both say discontinued. The original 1/5 Outcast 8S AVC (ARA5810) is discontinued too.

The one Outcast Horizon still sells is the 1/5 Outcast 8S EXB AVC (ARA5810V2T1). It is a different class of truck: 714mm long, a 430mm wheelbase, 24mm wheel hexes, a 5687 1100Kv motor, a Firma 160A V2 Smart ESC, an S6510 servo, and a DX3 radio with an SR6200A AVC receiver. It runs on 6S or 8S (two 3S or two 4S packs) and Horizon rates it at 50+ mph. More in our Outcast 8S review.

Buying a used 1/8 Outcast 6S is still an option. Check which version it is (BLX or EXB AVC), and confirm part numbers in the manual before ordering spares.

Notorious 6S V6 (from the specs, not our testing)

Pro: still sold new by Horizon, so parts and support are current.
Pro: 7075 T6 EXB chassis plate, 29mm EXB diffs and the newer Smart V2 ESC.
Pro: highest Horizon speed rating of the four (65+ mph), with 50%/75% throttle limiting.
Con: no AVC listed.
Con: heaviest of the four at 5.88kg.

Outcast 6S EXB AVC

Pro: AVC stability control and the DX3 radio out of the box.
Pro: EXB 7075 T6 chassis plate, towers and steering rack.
Con: discontinued; you are buying used, so condition and version vary.
Con: older Firma 150A Smart ESC and S652 servo.

Notorious or Outcast: Which Should You Buy?

Buying new: the Notorious 6S V6. It is the current ARRMA 1/8 6S stunt truck, and it carries the EXB parts that used to separate the Outcast EXB from the Notorious.

Buying used: an Outcast 6S EXB makes sense if AVC matters to you, for example for driving on loose or slick ground at full power. Check that the radio and AVC receiver are included and work.
